Quick response. No obligation.

Reading matters—but getting kids excited about reading is the real win.
Library Boogie is a high-energy, interactive school assembly where students sing, move, laugh, and leave wanting more books.

You’ll get full-room participation, kid-friendly humor, and a “variety show” feel—music, puppets, stories, and surprises.

That’s what I do.

I’m Tom Knight

I’ve spent decades performing interactive school assemblies that combine music, storytelling, and participation—designed to meet kids where they are and pull them in.

Library Boogie was created to help schools spark genuine excitement about reading—especially for students who don’t always see themselves as “readers.”

It works because it doesn’t talk about books.
It makes reading feel joyful, social, and alive.

“We’ve had Tom as part of our community for three years, and each year students and teachers dance and sing along. His program truly involves and engages the audience—students are excited and want to participate.”
— Richelle Villabona-Espada, Breakthrough Magnet School, Hartford, CT

What to Expect from Library Boogie reading assembly

Library Boogie is a fully interactive K–5 assembly designed to get students moving, laughing, and genuinely excited about reading.

Students don’t just sit and watch—they sing, respond, and move throughout the program. The tone is playful and high-energy, while still being age-appropriate and easy for teachers to manage.

When available, a screen is used to support the performance with simple, colorful visuals that help bring stories and songs to life. (The program works beautifully with or without a screen.)

During the assembly, students will:

  • Sing along to original, kid-tested songs
  • Watch puppet characters act out stories connected to books and reading
  • Participate through call-and-response and movement
  • Experience stories brought to life through music and puppetry
  • Feel included—no pressure, no singling out

The program adapts easily to different age groups and works well for:

  • Whole-school assemblies
  • Split grade-level assemblies
  • PARP and reading celebration weeks

For schools and organizers:

  • Minimal setup required
  • Fits comfortably in a gym, cafeteria, or multipurpose room
  • Screen use is optional and flexible
  • Designed to run smoothly within typical school schedules

Teachers consistently comment on the pacing, engagement, and joyful atmosphere—and students leave talking about the puppet characters, songs, and stories long after the assembly ends.
