TOM KNIGHT  has written hundreds of songs in the course of his 30-year career.  His song stories celebrate the marvelous and the mundane, using tenderness and wit to take us to the heart of the human experience.  His songs of love, creativity, pancakes, and politics  are set in genres that range from blues grooves to finger-style ballads, foot-tapping, upbeat rhythms to swing and funky R and B. With his resonant baritone and rich lyricism, Tom will make you laugh, tear up, and inspire you to fight for a more just world.

Tom has worked collaboratively with a large number of talented artists, including performance artist Rythea Lee, Eric Phelps, Felicia Sloin, Burchie Green, and Amy Kotel-Swift.  From 1999 to 2009, Tom led the successful swing band, Tom Knight & the Blue Moon.  In recent years, as part of River Rhapsody, he performed at Hawks and Reed, Luthiers, and other venues in the Pioneer Valley, playing bass, guitar and performing originals as well as rousing covers.  Since the 2016 election, Tom has felt called to use his talents to support political projects, including with his music videos Stand and Fight, Rosy Shade of Pink, and Rock the House.

Tom is also a beloved writer and performer of children’s songs, which have delighted successive generations of young families, with parent who were themselves raised on Tom Knight songs now sharing Tom Knight songs with their children.  His five CDs for children  contain songs that playfully encourage attention to reading (“the Library Boogie”), the environment (“the Garbage Monster”), and science (“The Solar System”), and provide guidance for trickier experiences of contemporary childhood (making mistakes and divorce).
